The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) is offering scholarships to pursue undergraduate, masters and Ph.D. program at public universities. Tanzanian students can apply for these ICT scholarships.

Brief Description: The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) is currently inviting highly qualified graduate and undergraduate students to apply for its 2016/17 ICT scholarship. The scholarship offers Tanzania students the opportunity to obtain degrees in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and related areas. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and interview to be conducted by the Scholarship Panel.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for these scholarships:

(a) Undergraduate Students:

  • The applicant must have completed Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination in the year 2016.
  • The applicant must be admitted or intending to be admitted in any ICT related degree programs in an accredited Institution of Higher Learning in Tanzania in the 2016/17 academic year.
  • The applicant must have obtained division one in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) or equivalent.

(b) Master Students:

  • Have an honors upper second or higher undergraduate degree from recognized University.
  • The applicant must be admitted or intending to be admitted in any ICT related degree programs in an accredited Institution of Higher Learning in Tanzania in 2016/17 academic year.

(c) Ph.D. Students:

  • Have an honors upper second or higher undergraduate degree from recognized University.
  • Masters degree or an equivalent Masters degree from a recognized university.
  • The applicant must be admitted or intending to be admitted in any ICT related degree programs in an accredited Institution of Higher Learning in Tanzania in 2016/17 academic year.

Award Includes: The Scholarship covers all university direct cost (tuition fees etc) and all student direct cost (meal, accommodation, book and stationary allowance, field practical training, special faculty requirement etc) for the duration of the course, provided that they obtain good academic performance. The scholarship amount has been set based on average cost of fees and other costs for the students in public universities. A student may enquire scholarship amount for specific items from the Authority.

Study Program: Scholarships are available for pursuing undergraduate, masters and Ph.D. programs at public universities.

Study Major: Scholarships are awarded to obtain degrees in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and related areas.

Number of Awards: There are five undergraduate scholarships, two master’s scholarships and one PhD scholarship.

National/International Students: Tanzanian students can apply for these ICT scholarships.

Application Procedure: Applications should be submitted by post. Application Forms can be obtained from the website www.tcra.go.tz or applicants can visit TCRA HQ or their Zanzibar office, Zone offices in Dodoma, Mbeya, Arusha and Mwanza to obtain application forms. Applicants can also request the same by email through dg-at-tcra.go.tz. Only shortlisted candidate will be contacted for the interview.
