Applications for invited for U.S.-Egypt Higher Education Initiative (HEI)-Public University Scholarships. These scholarships are available to high school graduates to attend excellence programs at Egyptian public universities. The application deadline is May 31, 2016.

Brief Description: The USAID-funded Public University Scholarships program through the U.S.-Egypt Higher Education Initiative is a scholarship for high school graduates to attend excellence programs at public universities in parallel with specially-designed supplementary enhancement activities such as English, leadership training and career planning, as well as internships, community service, and study abroad.  The program will interweave the private sector and practical experiences so that graduates are primed to enter and contribute to the workforce in Egypt, in sectors that are critical to the economic development of the country.

Eligibility: In order to apply for scholarship, applicants must follow the given criteria:
-Egyptian young men and women enrolled in Thanaweyya Amma in government schools including STEM schools.
-Student achievers in their first and second secondary results.
-Participated in community activities.
-Includes scholarships specifically for disabled applicants.

Award Includes: The scholarship covers:
-Tuition fees and ongoing academic support
-Housing and Meals for on-campus students
-Intensive English course and study skills program
-Leadership, character building, and business development training
-Mentoring and networking activities
-Internship and summer training in the field of study
-Summer community development project
-Semester or summer abroad for selected students
-Job search and placement support after graduation

Study Program: Scholarships are available for high school graduates to attend excellence programs at Egyptian public universities.

Study Major: Scholarships are awarded in fields of Faculties of Engineering, Education, Information Technology, Science, Agriculture, Law, Commerce, Nursing, Mass Communication, and Economics.

Host Organization: Egyptian Public Universities

Number of Awards: The program awards scholarships to more than 100 Thanaweyya Amma graduates each year for three years.

National/International Students: Egyptian Thanweyya Amma graduates can apply for these scholarships.

Application Procedure: Applicants can apply using the online application, which requires them to provide information about their studies, background, personal information and preferred fields of study.
